After completing study in Spanish Language and Literature at the University of Puerto Rico in the early 1980’s, René Grullón concentrated his professional interests in the booktrade and libraries. He worked at the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña and the UPR School of Architecture library as well as various bookshops in San Juan and at Melcher Ediciones (Libros en Venta). René established his company, Libros de Barlovento, in 1992. He has been a member and active participant in the association, SALALM (Seminar on the Acquisition of Latin American Library Materials) since 1994.

Darlene Hull completed her BA in Spanish at Bard College in 1979 after two years of study in Mexico and earned her Master’s Degree in Information and Library Science from the University of Kentucky in 1982. She served as Curator of Hispanic History & Culture Collections and as Latin American & Caribbean Specialist librarian at the University of Connecticut from 1982-2005. Darlene joined Libros de Barlovento in 2005. She has been an active member of the organization SALALM since 1984 and served as the association’s President in the year 2002/2003.
